Young Economists from Eastern Europe and Baltic States are greatly encouraged to take part at the conference. We are happy to announce that one sponsor agreed to provide grants covering transport and accommodation costs. The SMYE 2008 Local Organizing Committee thanks our sponsors for their generosity.

East–European participants, who do not get any financial support from their institutions can apply for `CDE - Eastern-Europe-Scholarships' after their notification of acceptance. Depending on the number of applicants, expenses for eligible participants can (partly) be refunded. The scholarship funds are limited to an amount of 2000 € in total.

The scholarship holders will be selected in March 2008 by the Local Organizing Committee in concordance with the sponsoring institutions. Eligible candidates must fulfill the following requirements:

1. You are admitted for presenting your paper at the SMYE 2008.

2. You are citizen of an East-European country such as: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine or Uzbekistan.

3. You are enrolled in an East-European university.

The SMYE Board as well as the SMYE Local Organizing Committee thanks the Collège Doctoral Européen for its generosity.
